1) Colts- Andrew Luck QB Stanford: Been the same since day one. NEXT!
2) Redskins- Robert Griffin III QB Baylor:
The trade means one thing, RGIII welcome to DC.
3) Vikings- Matt Kalil OT USC: The Vikings
have reported decided that unless a trade presents itself they will take Kalil.
4) Browns- Ryan Tannehill QB Texas A&M:
The Browns whole organization was at the Texas A&M pro day and they liked
what they saw from Tannehill. Unless a trade at #3 happens look for Tannehill
to be the pick at four.
TRADE ALERT!!!
The Buccaneers trade the #5 overall pick to the Panthers for the #9 and #40
overall picks.
Explanation: The Panthers really like
Claiborne and need a corner in a bad way. To give up a second round pick to
insure their number one corner of the future is a price worth paying. The Bucs
want Richardson and he is still likely to be there at nine.
5) Panthers- Morris Claiborne CB LSU: The
Panthers need a corner; Claiborne is the number one CB in the draft.
6) Rams- Justin Blackmon WR Okla St: The
Rams need a lot of things but a number one WR is the most important.
7) Jaguars- Michael Floyd WR Norte Dame:
Floyd is a likely top-10 pick now and the Jaguars need to get some weapons if
QB Blaine Gabbert is ever going to become a franchise QB.
TRADE ALERT!!!
The Dolphins trade the #8 overall pick to the Giants for the #32, #63 overall
picks and a 2013 second round pick.
Explanation: With both Tannehill and Floyd
gone by the time the Dolphins pick they beg a team to trade up. The Giants move
up into the top-10 to grab a franchise changing player.
8) Giants- Luke Kuechly MLB BC:
Surprised?!?! Shouldn’t be. The Giants have their franchise QB but have had a
rotating door at MLB since Antonio Pierce retired. Kuechly gives the Giants
their franchise defensive QB. Kuechly had almost 200 tackles last year at
Boston College; image what he could do as a three down linebacker with the
Giants from four.
9) Buccaneers- Trent Richardson RB Bama:
The Bucs wanted Richardson all along but by trading down they pick up an extra
second round pick.
10) Bills- Riley Reiff OT Iowa: The Bills
have spent the offseason improving their defensive line so at ten they look to
grab their left tackle off the future.
11) Chiefs- Dontari Poe NT Memphis: The
Chiefs need a new young NT; Poe is the best pure NT in the draft and has huge
potential.
12) Seahawks- Quinton Coples DE UNC: The
Seahawks need to push some big physical DEs. Coples had a poor effort senior
year but his talent is great.
TRADE ALERT!!!
The Cardinals trade the #13 overall pick to the Bengals for the #21, #53
overall picks and a fifth round pick.
Explanation: The Cardinals don’t have a
second round pick and will be looking to add one. The Bengals have two huge needs;
guard and corner both of with can be an option at #13 plus both the Cowboys and
the Eagles will be looking to add a guard in the first round.
13) Bengals- David DeCastro G Stanford: The
Bengals like running the ball and DeCastro is the best running offensive
linemen in the draft. The Bengals also believe they can get a corner at #17 and
not a guard.
14) Cowboys- Michael Brockers DL LSU: The
Cowboys want to add a versatile defensive lineman in the draft. Brockers can
play anywhere on the defensive front line in the Cowboys 3-4 defense.
15) Eagles- Mark Baron S Bama: The Eagles
safeties are so nice they let WRs walk across the middle of the field without a
drop of sweat worrying about getting hit. Baron starts from day one and kills
anyone who goes over the middle.
16) Jets- Melvin Ingram OLB South Carolina:
The Jets have been working out DEs and OLBs over the last week and seem focused
on drafting one at #16. Ingram is better off playing 3-4 OLB where he can use
his speed and quickness.
17) Bengals- Stephon Gilmore CB South Carolina:
Back to back Game Cock players taken. Gilmore is a big physical corner who
likes to press and play up in the run.
18) Chargers- Cordy Glenn G/T Georgia: The
Chargers have replaced all their offseason free agent losses by adding new free
agents at every position but RB, safety, and guard. With no RB or safety worth
the pick here the Chargers take Glenn who can play either guard spot or right
tackle.
19) Bears- Jonathon Martin OT Stanford: The
Bears need a new franchise left tackle to pair with last year’s first round
pick OT Gabe Carimi.
20) Titans- Fletcher Cox DT Miss St: The
Titans lost DT Jason Jones in free agency and they need DT help before the
lost. Cox is a top-15 player but falls to 20 because of lack of need at DT.
21) Cardinals- Mike Adams OT Ohio St: The
Cardinals want to move last year’s left tackle Levi Brown to the right side and
needs to add a new left tackle.
TRADE ALERT!!!
The Browns trade the #22 overall pick and their fourth round pick to the Texans
for the #26 and #76 overall picks.
Explanation: The Browns don’t like their
options at #22 and while they need a WR they don’t like Kendall Wright as a
number one WR. The Texans want the speedy Wright more than any other team in
the draft.
22) Texans- Kendall Wright WR Baylor:
Wright can play either in the slot of out wide opposite of Andre Johnson. It’s
going to be hard to double and triple team Johnson if Wright is scoring 50 yard
touchdown passes.
23) Lions- Dre Kirkpatrick CB Bama: The
Lions need a number one corner before Eric Wright left in free agency and now
with him gone the need is even more pressing. Kirkpatrick is a physical press
cover corner. Just what the Lions want in a corner.
24) Steelers- Dont'a Hightower ILB Bama:
With James Farrior released this offseason the Steelers add the play making
inside linebacker to replace him.
25) Broncos- Jerel Worthy DT Mich St: The
Broncos lost starting DT Brodrick Bunkley in free agency. Worthy has secured
his first round grade and should fit well in that Denver defense.
TRADE ALERT!!!
The Browns trade the #26 overall pick to the Jaguars for the #38 and #70
overall picks.
Explanation: The Jaguars need to come away
from this draft with a big physical defense end. They give up their third round
pick to move up 12 spot to insure they get the DE they want. The Browns can’t
seem to find a player they like at their pick and move back and add picks
again.
26) Jaguars- Courtney Upshaw DE Bama: The
third Bama player in the last four picks. Upshaw is better off playing 4-3 left
defense end (which the Jaguars need) instead of 3-4 OLB because he doesn’t cover
in space well and has great lower body explosion.
27) Patriots- Janoris Jenkins CB North Alabama:
The Patriots played a WR at CB in the AFC championship game. If that doesn’t scream
“we need corner depth” I don’t know what does. Jenkins has shut down corner
potential but off the field issues will drop him in the draft.
28) Packers- Whitney Mercilus OLB Illinois:
The Packers pass rush was horrible last year. Mercilus is a one year wonder but
the Packers take a chance on him at the end of the first round.
29) Ravens- Harrison Smith S Norte Dame:
The Ravens need to bring in a safety that can play the third safety role who
can take over for Ed Reed when he does retire.
30) 49ers- Stephen Hill WR GT: The 49ers
need a deep ball threat at WR, they added Randy Moss this offseason but he had
very little let in the tank, Hill could turn into a star at WR in two to three
years.
31) Patriots- Chandler Jones DE/OLB Syracuse:
The Patriots need to add pass rushers in the worst way. Jones can play either
4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB which is good for the Patriots who like to play both.
32) Dolphins- Kirk Cousin QB Mich St: The
Dolphins lost out on Tannehill at number eight so they trade back and grab
Cousins. Cousins is not anything flashy or special but he could become a good
starting QB in the NFL, the reason why the Dolphins take Cousins over Brandon
Weeden because of Weedens age.
33) Rams- Rueben Randle WR LSU: Sam
Bradford called New York, he wants Blackmon and Randle. The Rams traded for
Brandon Lloyd at mid-season last year and then let him walk in free agency this
offseason. To give Bradford two new toys to play with will make this franchise
QB very happy.
34) Colts- Coby Fleener TE Stanford: Andrew
Luck called the Colts and said, “Glad to be here, now get me a weapon!” Well
why not give Luck his old buddy at TE? Fleener is an underrated blocker and can
catch the high ball and stretch the field. Adding Fleener will make Lucks transition
much smoother.
TRADE ALERT!!!
The Vikings trade the #35 overall pick and a fifth round to the Dolphins for
the #42 and #72 overall picks.
Explanation: The Dolphins traded back in the
first round now jump up in the second round. The Dolphins are switching to a
4-3 defense and need a 4-3 DE.
35) Dolphins- Nick Perry DE USC: The
Dolphins have Cameron Wake switching from 3-4 OLB to 4-3 DE but they need to
add another DE. Perry probably should have stayed at USC but he is a solid
prospect.
36) Buccaneers- Kendall Reyes DT UConn: The
Bucs drafted a DT in the first and second round of the 2010 draft but neither
play has played a full season yet. Adding Reyes is a smart move and a value
pick decision at #36.
37) Browns- Doug Martin RB Boise St:
FINALLY!!! The Browns pick again after trading down twice. The Browns need a
running back in the worst way. Martin’s stock has gone up in recent weeks and
is the best in the tackles runner in the draft.
38) Browns- Alshon Jeffery WR South Carolina:
Browns pick again? Yup this is one of the picks they got from the Jaguars.
Jeffery had a solid pro day but is still a likely early second round pick.
Jeffery gives them the red zone threat they really need.
39) Rams- Bobby Massie OT Ole Miss: The
happiest man alive right now is Sam Bradford. Two new WRs and now a new left
tackle? Super Happy! Massie is a under rated tackle who could go in the first
round if a team in the last 20’s reach for a OT, so the Rams get a steal at
#39.
40) Buccaneers- Josh Robinson CB UCF: The
Bucs did add Eric Wright in free agency but he isn’t a top notch corner and
with Ronde Barber on his last legs adding a corner with one of their first
three or four picks is needed.
41) Bills- Zach Brown OLB UNC: The Bills
have decided to stick with a 4-3 defense, so they need to add a speedy OLB who
can cover TEs and RBs in man coverage. A must need in the AFC East.
42) Vikings- Dwight Bentley CB LA-Lafayette:
The Vikings need to add corners in this draft. And yes I meant cornerS and not
corner. The Vikings secondary was horrible and every spot could use an upgrade.
43) Seahawks- Kevin Zeitler G Wisconsin:
The Seahawks let Robert Gallery go this offseason so to find his replacement is
needed.
44) Chiefs- Peter Konz C Wisconsin: The
Chiefs don’t need a starter at center but they do need depth. Konz can play
either guard or center and could be the first linemen off the bench for the Chiefs
and become a starter in 2013.
45) Cowboys- Andre Branch OLB Clemson: The
Cowboys have been looking to add depth at OLB. Branch is a quick athletic pass
rush DE who will play 3-4 OLB in the NFL.
46) Eagles- Brandon Weeden QB Okla St:
Michael Vick always misses three or four games a season with injuries. Weeden
comes in a can start when Vick get hurts and if he plays very well he could be
traded in the off season.
47) Jets- David Wilson RB VT: The Jets need
to add depth at RB. Wilson is a speedy back who can beat out RB Joe McKnight as
the third down back.
TRADE ALERT!!!
The Patriots trade the #48 and #93 overall picks to the Steelers for the #56,
#86 overall picks, fifth and sixth round picks in 2012 and a 2013 seventh round
pick.
Explanation: The Steelers need a nose tackle
to replace Casey Hampton and Chris Hoke. To swap second and third round picks
and giving up a few later round picks is worth the price to secure their future
NT.
48) Steelers- Brandon Thompson NT Clemson:
Thompson is a big fast but physical nose tackle. He gives the Steelers a
replacement and a day one starter.
49) Chargers- Vinny Curry OLB Marshall: The
Chargers are looking to add a player at OLB in this draft despite adding former
Ravens OLB Jarret Johnson in free agency
50) Bears- Lavonte David OLB Nebraska: The
Bears have no depth at OLB, David is rising up draft boards lately and could
start opposite of Lance Briggs.
51) Eagles- Zebrie Sanders OT Florida St:
With left tackle Jason Peters tearing his Achilles recently the Eagles need to
find a tackle. They will likely move Todd Herremans over from right tackle to
left tackle this year. Sanders will then start at right tackle, and when Peters
come back the Eagles can move Herremans back to his natural position, guard.
52) Titans- Lamar Miller RB Miami: While
the Titans don’t NEED a RB but they need an insurance policy if Christ Johnson disappears
again this season. This is a value pick and Miller is much better than the 52
overall prospect in the draft.
53) Cardinals- Trumaine Johnson CB/S Montana:
The Cardinals lost starting corner Richard Marshall to the Dolphins in free
agency. Like Marshall, Johnson can play either corner or safety.
TRADE ALERT!!!
The Lions trade the #54 overall pick and to the Eagles for the #88 overall pick
and 2013 second round pick.
Explanation: The Lions don’t see a player
they like taking at #54 so they trade it for a third round pick this year and a
second round pick next year. The Eagles trade back into the second round to
make their third selection in the last nine picks.
54) Eagles- Devon Still DT Penn St: Still
is a border line first round prospect but falls because he fits in only one
scheme, the Eagles scheme. The Eagles want to add a pass rushing DT to play in
that “wide-9” defensive line scheme.
55) Falcons- Dwayne Allen TE Clemson: Tony Gonzales
isn’t going to be around forever so to draft Allen and let him watch and learn
is a good move.
56) Patriots- Mohamed Sanu WR Rutgers: Wes
Welker may hold out and I personally think is a poor man Wes Welker. He is much
bigger, 6-2 compared to Welker’s 5-9, but plays best out of the slot and under
near routes over the middle. Even if Welker doesn’t hold out adding Sanu at #56
is a good idea, besides I doubt Tom Brady is going to have a problem with the
Patriots drafting a WR.
57) Broncos- LaMichael James RB Oregon:
Peyton Manning loves throwing to his RB. James is a lot like Saints RB Darren
Spoales, he is a third down back who will make 50 catches a year. The RB position
needs help and James could become Manning’s favorite weapon out of the back
field.
58) Texans- Amini Silatolu G Midwestern St:
The Texans lost both their starting right tackle and right tackle in free
agency this offseason. Replacements will be needed.
59) Packers- Jayron Hosley CB VT: This is a
slight reach for Hosley but the Packers need to add a corner in this draft
especially if Charles Woodson is moving to safety.
60) Ravens- Mychal Kendricks ILB Cal: The
Ravens have one of the best at ILB in Ray Lewis. To allow his replacement a
chance to learn from him is a good idea.
61) 49ers- Jared Crick DE Nebraska: The
49ers need to add depth at DE where Justin Smith will be turning 33 during the
2012 season.
62) Patriots- Brandon Taylor S LSU: The Patriots
need to draft a safety to come in and compete for a starting spot. Taylor’s
draft stock has gone up in the past few weeks and he looks like a late second
or early third round pick.
63) Dolphins- Brain Cook WR App St: The
Dolphins need to add at least one big WR in this draft. Cook at 6’4 is under
rated and could go late second or early third round.
64) Colts- Alameda Ta’amu NT Washington:
The Colts are switching to a 3-4 defense and need to find their nose tackle.
65) Rams- Chase Minnifield CB Virginia
TRADE ALERT!!!
The Vikings trade the #66 overall pick and a sixth round pick to the Lions for
the #85 and #88 overall picks.
Explanation: The Vikings need as many picks
as possible so to trade down and pick up an extra third round pick is a good
idea. The Lions trade up to grab a tackle before teams like the Redskins and
Browns pick.
66) Mitchell Schwartz OT Cal: The Lions
need to add a tackle in the first few round incase if either starting tackle
get hurt.
67) Browns- Alfonzo Dennard CB Nebraska
68) Buccaneers- Shea McClellin DE/OLB Boise St
69) Redskins- Bobby Wagner ILB Utah St
70) Browns- Brandon Mosley OT Auburn: The
Browns need to find a new right tackle and Mosley is a late third round prospect
at best so this is a reach pick by the Browns.
71) Bills- Joe Adams WR Arkansas
72) Vikings- Nick Toon WR Wisconsin
73) Dolphins- Marvin Jones WR Cal
74) Chiefs- Brock Osweiler QB ASU: The
Chiefs are taking a hard look at Ryan Tannehill in round one but instead they
take Osweiler in round three and let him sit behind Matt Cassel for a year or
two to learn and develop.
75) Seahawks- Mike Martin DT Michigan
76) Browns- Casey Hayward CB Vanderbilt:
The Browns pick for the third time in ten selections, drafting Dennard and
Hayward gives the Browns depth at the nickel corner spot.
77) Jets- Kelechi Osemele G/T Iowa St
78) Chargers- Jamell Fleming CB Oklahoma
79) Bears- Orson Charles TE Georgia: The
Bears need a starting TE, while Charles isn’t a great player he can be a solid
starter for the Bears.
80) Cardinals- Billy Winn DE Boise St
81) Cowboys- James Brown G/T Troy
82) Titans- Ben Jones G/C Georgia
83) Bengals- Isaiah Pead RB Cincinnati: The
Bengals did add “The Law Firm” at RB in the offseason but every team needs at
least two good RBs on their roster. Pead is a home town kid who can do it all including
play special teams.
84) Falcons- Matt McCants OT UAB
85) Vikings- Sean Spence OLB Miami
86) Patriots- Ronnell Lewis OLB Oklahoma
87) Broncos- Leonard Johnson CB Iowa St
88) Vikings- Cam Johnson DE Virginia
89) Saints- Chris Givens WR Wake Forest:
The Saints lost WR Robert Meachem in free agency so the Saints need to draft a
replacement.
90) Packers- Tyrone Crawford DE Boise St
91) Ravens- Bruce Irvin OLB WVU
92) 49ers- Brandon Washington G Miami
93) Steelers- Ladarius Green TE LA-Lafayette
94) Giants- Chris Polk RB Washington: The
Giants let Brandon Jacobs go this offseason and with Ahmad Bradshaw having more
foot problems drafting a RB is a must for the Giants.
95) Raiders- Nick Foles QB Arizona: The
pick is a compensatory pick for the Raiders, besides compensatory picks the
Raiders don’t pick till the fifth round. That’s because they gave the Bengals
their first round pick for QB Carson Palmer, they used their third round pick
in the 2011 Supplemental Draft on Terrelle Pryor and they traded their fourth
round pick to the Redskins for Jason Campbell who is now the backup QB in Chicago.
So it’s only fitting the Raiders WASTE another pick on QB who can’t play.
