My Seventh NFL Mock Draft

Welcome to my seventh 2012 NFL mock draft. This is my second three round mock draft. I predict trades in my mock drafts, because that’s what makes this so much fun! But in this draft I will explain some of the trades I have executed.

1) Colts- Andrew Luck QB Stanford: Been the same since day one. NEXT!

2) Redskins- Robert Griffin III QB Baylor: The trade means one thing, RGIII welcome to DC.

3) Vikings- Justin Blackmon WR Okla St: Reports are saying the Vikings haven’t decided that OT Matt Kalil is the grantee pick yet so Blackmon could push his way into the third pick.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Browns trade the #4 and #68 overall picks to the Bills for the #10, #41, #72 overall picks and 2013 first and fourth round picks.

Explanation: The Bills seem serious this offseason about making it back to the playoffs. They added Mario Williams and Mark Anderson in free agency to give them a great front four. Now they need to add a franchise left tackle. The Browns reportedly willing to trade down to as low as number eight but considering they are getting an extra second round pick this year and a first and fourth round picks in next year’s draft, dropping to ten is ok.

4) Bills- Matt Kalil OT USC: The Bills got there pass rush fixed in free agency now it’s time to get that franchise left tackle they been looking for since they traded away Jason Peters.

5) Buccaneers- Trent Richardson RB Bama: Head coach Greg Schiano recently told starting running back LeGarrette Blount that if he fumbles he is going to be bench. That makes me think he is thinking RB at number five. Richardson played with Saints last year’s first round pick Mark Ingram at Alabama so he knows how to share the carries. Richardson is the best RB prospect since Adrian Peterson in 2007.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Rams trade the #6, #66 overall picks and a fourth round pick in 2013 to the Bengals for the #17, #21, #85 overall picks and a 2013 third round pick.

Explanation: The Bengals probably put the most value into drafting a CB in the first round. With Claiborne falling to number six and the Rams looking to move down possibly the Bengals give up both first round picks to get the superstar CB.

6) Bengals- Morris Claiborne CB LSU: The Bengals lost Jonathon Joseph last offseason and that really hurt the team. Adding Claiborne gives the Bengals a great young CB duo again with him and Leon Hall.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Jaguars trade the #7 to the Chiefs for the #11, #75 overall picks and 2013 third and fifth round picks.

Explanation: The Chiefs were in the Peyton Manning chase and missed out and Matt Cassel is a decent QB but not a franchise guy. New head coach Romeo Crennel is going to want “his guy” at QB. While Cassel may start for another year he isn’t the long term answer at QB. The Jaguars are the in the perfect spot for a team that wants QB Ryan Tannehill because if he is there at number eight the Dolphins will take him in a heartbeat.

7) Chiefs- Ryan Tannehill QB Texas A&M: The Chiefs need a franchise QB and while not everyone is sold that Tannehill can be one (myself included) he has the potential to be one. The Chiefs take the risk and hope a year or two sitting and learning will help.

8) Dolphins- Quinton Coples DE UNC: The Dolphins are switching to a 4-3 defense and are going to need a big physical DE. Coples at 6’6” 280lbs can be that force if he can keep his motor up.

9) Panthers- Stephon Gilmore CB South Carolina: No player in recent years has jumped up draft boards like Gilmore has. Two months ago he was the fifth or sixth best corner in the draft and a likely late second to early third round pick. He now is considered a top 12 pick and by most the second best CB in the draft (a close second) and even by some better than Claiborne. Gilmore gives the Panthers what they truly need, a big physical long armed CB to be the number one CB for years to come.

10) Browns- Michael Floyd WR Norte Dame: The Browns missed on getting Blackmon, which is the player they really want according to reports, but instead get Michael Floyd. Floyd is a big physical receiver who could turn into a number one option at WR.

11) Jaguars- Melvin Ingram DE South Carolina: The Jaguars have missed on young DEs in the draft more than anyone ever thought they could. They again go to the draft and select another DE. Unlike all the other DEs they have drafted Ingram is an athletic freak who could even play OLB on third downs in the Jaguars 4-3 defense.

12) Seahawks- Luke Kuechly MLB BC: The Seahawks think they have their franchise QB in Matt Flynn now they need to find their QB on defense. Kuechly is probably the best MLB prospect to come out since Patrick Willis.

13) Cardinals- Riley Reiff OT Iowa: The Cardinals have to find a franchise left tackle, while Reiff is nowhere near the talent that Kalil is, he still is a solid physical left tackle.

14) Cowboys- Dontari Poe NT Memphis: The Cowboys are considering moving current NT Jay Ratliff to DE in their 3-4 defense. If they do another NT will be needed to replace him.

15) Eagles- Michael Brockers DT LSU: The Eagles need a big body DT to help against the run in their “wide-9” defensive style. Brockers at 6’5” 320lbs is perfect.

16) Jets- Mark Baron S Bama: If Baron last till #16 I think Rex Ryan might have a heart attack, granted that might be from all the fast food, but Baron is the guy the Jets want, if he is gone look for them to grab a pass rusher at OLB.

17) Rams- Jonathan Martin OT Stanford: The Rams need an offensive tackle to pair with Rodger Saffold. Martin may need to start at right tackle but given a year he could be the future franchise left tackle for the Rams.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Chargers trade the #18 overall pick to the Ravens for the #29 and #61 overall picks.

18) Ravens- David DeCastro G Stanford: The Ravens lost guard Ben Grubbs to the Saints in free agency. DeCastro is the best guard prospect in years and run blocks better than any offensive linemen in this draft, that’s good considering that the Ravens love to run the ball.

19) Bears- Dre Kirkpatrick CB Bama: The Bears got the number one WR they needed in the offseason by acquiring Brandon Marshall from the Dolphins. Now they need to add some youth to that defense. They lost CB Zack Bowman to the Vikings in free agency so adding another corner is a priority.

20) Titans- Fletcher Cox DT Miss St: The Titans lose Jason Jones in free agency and defensive tackle was an area of need before his lost. Cox is a top 15 prospect but falls in the Titans lap at #20.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Rams trade the #21 overall pick and a fifth round pick to the Texans for the #26, #77 overall picks and both their fourth round picks (theirs and the Eagles).

Explanation: The Texans really like Kendall Wright and with teams like Browns, Steelers and Broncos picking before the Texans do at #26 they trade up to insure they get Wright. The Rams (who are also looking for a WR) agree to trade back in order to pick up three extra picks in the draft (a third and two fourth round picks).

21) Texans- Kendall Wright WR Baylor: The Texans really want Wright and should be willing to give up three extra picks to make sure they get their guy.

22) Browns- Courtney Upshaw DE Bama: The Browns really should spend both their first round picks to improve a horrible offense but with Upshaw sitting there at #22 they add him to pair with last year’s second round pick DE Jabaal Sheard.

23) Lions- Janoris Jenkins CB North Alabama: With the Lions resigning left tackle Jeff Backus they can wait till round two to draft a tackle. They need to find starting caliber corners and Jenkins is a first round talent who could go higher if it wasn’t for all the red flags.

24) Steelers- Cordy Glenn G/T Georgia: The Steelers are planning on sliding right tackle Marcus Gilbert to the left side so to add Glenn who can play three spots on the offensive line including right tackle is a smart move the Steelers make.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Broncos trade the #25 and #89 overall picks to the Dolphins for the #42, #73, #81 overall picks and a 2013 second round pick plus both their 2013 third round picks (theirs and the Bears).

Explanation: The Dolphins need to find an answer at QB and like the Dolphins have done this offseason they have made questionable moves left and right so here they trade away two second round picks and two third rounds to move up and draft a QB.

25) Dolphins- Brandon Weeden QB Okla St: The Dolphins are going in the wrong direction, they traded away Brandon Marshall for basically trash and they lost out of many free agents they wanted, like Manning. So they give up a lot of a 29 year old rookie and hope is he the answer at QB.

26) Rams- Stephen Hill WR Georgia Tech: The Rams know they aren’t going to become super bowl contenders in one year. They have two first round picks in each of the next two drafts so they are clearly building for the future. Hill is raw and needs a lot of work but we could look back in five years and say Hill was the best WR in the draft. Pairing him with QB Sam Bradford could turn them into a great QB-WR duo for the next ten years.

27) Patriots- Dont’a Hightower MLB Bama: The Patriots don’t need a MLB but Hightower is more than that. He is mister do it all. He played OLB and DE at Alabama at times. Give the Patriots a defensive weapon like Hightower and everyone in the AFC East…. Watch out!

28) Packers- Whitney Mercilus OLB Illinois: The Packers still haven’t found their book end OLB to pair with Clay Matthews. Mercilus gives the Packers more pass rush from the OLB spot.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Chargers trade the #29 overall pick to the Giants for the #32 and #96 overall picks.

The Chargers trade down three spots and pick up an extra third round pick. The Giants give up the third round pick to jump over the 49ers, who will be looking to add an offensive linemen.

29) Giants- Mike Adams OT Ohio St: The Giants have been looking to add a young tackle to their roster. Adams may not start from day one but he will sooner rather than later.

30) 49ers- Jerel Worthy DE Mich St: The 49ers are looking to add some young depth to their defensive line. Worthy played DT at Michigan St but will be play DE in the 49ers 3-4 defense.

31) Patriots- Nick Perry DE USC: The Patriots need to add pass rush to this defense. They lost Mark Anderson to the Bills in free agency and haven’t added anyone so adding Perry is a need.

32) Chargers- Harrison Smith S Norte Dame: Smith is a borderline first round prospect and the Chargers are looking for find a safety to pair with star safety Eric Weddle.

33) Colts Peter Konz C Wisconsin: With Peyton Manning and longtime center Jeff Saturday are both gone so to start over with Luck and Konz at QB and center.

34) Rams- Rueben Randle WR LSU: The Rams are serious!! Yes they did just take WR Hill a few picks ago but the Rams need to give Bradford as many weapons as possible.

35) Vikings- Bobby Massie OT Ole Miss: The Vikings still need a left tackle; Massie is one of the more underrated players in the draft.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Buccaneers trade the #36 overall pick to the Broncos for the #42 overall pick and the fourth round pick from the Jets.

Explanation: The Broncos lost starting DT Brodrick Bunkley in free agency to the Saints. A replacement is needed; they trade up six spots to jump over teams like the Jaguars and Rams who also are looking to add a DT.

36) Broncos- Kendall Reyes DT UConn: The Broncos need a new starting DT and Reyes has become a border line first round pick. Reyes gives the Broncos an up the field pass rush at DT.

37) Browns- Doug Martin RB Boise St: The Browns need a running back, Marin is the second best running back in the draft and can be an every down back.

38) Jaguars- Alshon Jeffery WR South Carolina: The Jaguars need to add a WR threat for QB Blaine Gabbert. Jeffery had a solid pro day but he still isn’t a first round WR.

39) Rams- Zach Brown OLB UNC: The Rams have given Bradford a new tackle and two new WRs now they turn to adding another piece to their defense. Brown is an athletic OLB who can cover TEs and RBs.

40) Panthers- Devon Still DT Penn St: The Panthers got crushed against the run last year and had no pressure from the interior defensive line. Still was a first round prospect before the combine but now is a second round prospect.

41) Browns- Coby Fleener TE Stanford: The Browns have made a true commitment to QB Colt McCoy. They added a WR, RB and now a TE. Fleener gives McCoy a tall TE who can play on and off the line.

42) Buccaneers- Josh Robinson CB UCF: The Bucs have three solid corners on their roster but in the NFC south if you don’t have four or five solid corners you will be touched through the air. Robinson is not Claiborne (who they could have taken at number five) but depth and youth is a must.

43) Seahawks- Chandler Jones DE Syracuse: The Seahawks need to add some pass rush from the DE spot opposite of Chris Clemons.

44) Chiefs- Brandon Thompson NT Clemson: The Chiefs have a solid young defense but need to add a big body NT to their young defensive front line.

45) Cowboys- Andre Branch OLB Clemson: The Cowboys don’t need a starter at OLB but adding a “swing OLB” to sub in and step in as a starter in case of an injury is a good idea.

46) Eagles- Mychal Kendricks MLB California: The Eagles traded for Demeco Ryans but still adding Kendricks isn’t a bad idea.

47) Jets- Vinny Curry OLB Marshall: The Jets are likely to take an OLB at #16 but with Baron there they choose to pass and wait till round two to get one.

48) Patriots- David Wilson RB VT: The Patriots lost “The Law Firm” in free agency to the Bengals. While they may look at their current roster for his replacement but adding Wilson at this spot is a smart move.

49) Chargers- Dwayne Allen TE Clemson: The Chargers don’t need a TE but it is time to find Antonio Gates eventual replacement.

50) Bears- Cam Johnson DE Virginia: The Bears have a great right defensive end with Julius Peppers but to add a big physical run stopping left defensive end with Johnson is a good idea. The Bears continue to add pieces to their defense.

51) Eagles- Lavonte David OLB Nebraska: The Eagles keep adding young linebackers to their roster hoping their unit this year is much better than last year’s.

52) Titans- Jayron Hosley CB VT: The Titans let starting CB Cortland Finnegan walk in free agency so adding some depth is needed.

53) Bengals- Lamar Miller RB Miami: Despite adding “The Law Firm” in free agency the Bengals should draft a RB within the first three rounds. Miller gives the Bengals a change of pass back.

54) Lions- Zebrie Sanders OT Florida St: The Lions passed on an OT in the first round, so to add one in the second round is a must.

55) Falcons- Kevin Zeitler G Wisconsin: The Falcons lost starting guard Harvey Dahl in free agency last year and never recovered. Adding Zeitler gives them a replacement for Dahl.

56) Steelers- Alameda Ta’amu NT Washington: The Steelers need to add a NT in this draft; Ta’amu is the biggest NT in the draft.

57) Broncos- Kirk Cousins QB Mich St: Manning signed a five year deal with the Broncos if he plays all five years I’ll be amazed! So to add a young backup QB to develop and learn under Manning is a smart move by John Elway and the Broncos.

58) Texans- Mohamed Sanu WR Rutgers: Why just add Kendall Wright? By adding Sanu it gives the Texans the down field threat from Wright and the over the middle threat in Sanu. These two picks make Andre Johnson a very happy man.

59) Saints- THE SAINTS FORFIET THIS PICK DUE TO THE BOUNTY PROGRAM.

60) Packers- Ronnell Lewis OLB Oklahoma: What wins in this league? Protecting your franchise QB and knocking around the opponent’s QB. The Packers spend two picks to ensure they have plenty of pass rush to complement Clay Matthews.

61) Chargers- Dwight Bently CB LA-Lafayette: The Chargers continue to add talent and depth to their secondary.

62) 49ers- Jared Crick DE Nebraska: The 49ers continue to add youth and depth to their defensive line.

63) Patriots- Trumaine Johnson CB/S Montana: The Patriots continue to build up their defense. Johnson can play either CB or FS and gives the Patriots a big corner that can cover the tall receivers in the NFL.

64) Giants- LaMichael James RB Oregon: The Giants released Brandon Jacobs so to add another RB in the draft is a good idea.

65) Colts- Orson Charles TE Georgia

66) Bengals- Amini Silatolu G Midwestern St

67) Vikings- Chase Minnifield CB/S Virginia

68) Bills- Alfonzo Dennard CB Nebraska

69) Buccaneers- Brandon Taylor S LSU

70) Redskins- Mitchell Schwartz OT California

71) Jaguars- Philip Blake C Baylor

72) Browns- Brock Osweiler QB ASU: The Browns bring in Osweiler to push McCoy and replace him if he doesn’t improve with all the weapons they added in the first two rounds.

73) Broncos- Nick Toon WR Wisconsin

74) Bears- Sean Spence OLB Miami

75) Jaguars- Donald Stephenson OT Oklahoma

76) Seahawks- Mike Martin DT Michigan

77) Rams- Casey Hayward CB Vanderbilt

78) Jets- Joe Adams WR Arkansas

79) Raiders- USED THIS PICK ON TERELLE PRYOR IN 2012 SUPPLEMENTAL DRAFT

80) Chargers- Bruce Irvin OLB WVU

81) Broncos- Isaiah Pead RB Cincinnati

82) Cardinals- Billy Winn DE Boise St

83) Cowboys- Jamell Fleming CB Oklahoma

84) Titans- Bobby Wagner OLB Utah St

85) Rams- Chris Polk RB Washington: Adding some depth behind Steven Jackson is a good idea since he is going to be 29 years old at the start of the season.

86) Falcons- Brandon Mosley OT Auburn

87) Lions- Brandon Brooks G Miami (OH)

88) Steelers- Ladarius Green TE LA-Lafayette

89) Dolphins- Brain Cook WR App St

90) Eagles- Nick Foles QB Arizona: The Eagles drafted Kevin Kolb way back when to be the eventual replacement to Donavan McNabb. Foles could be the replacement to Michael Vick or they could trade him like they did Kolb.

91) Saints- Chris Givens WR Wake Forest

92) Packers- Leonard Johnson CB Iowa St

93) Ravens- DeQuan Menzie S Bama

94) 49ers- Kelechi Osemele G/T Iowa St

95) Patriots- Demario Davis OLB Arkansas St

96) Chargers- Nate Potter OT Boise St

97) Raiders- Keenan Robinson MLB Texas

My Sixth NFL Mock Draft

Welcome to my sixth 2012 NFL mock draft. This is my first three round mock draft. This mock draft was done before the NFL gave out their compensatory picks. I predict trades in my mock drafts, because that’s what makes this so much fun! But in this draft I will explain some of the trades I have executed.
1) Colts- Andrew Luck QB Stanford: Manning to Denver. Luck to Indy. NEXT!

2) Redskins- Robert Griffin III QB Baylor: Luck goes #1, Redskins picking at #2, need a QB? RGIII. NEXT!

3) Vikings- Matt Kalil OT USC: There are some reports that the Vikings are going to take CB Morris Claiborne with this pick. I don’t believe it.

4) Browns- Trent Richardson RB Bama: The Browns need a focal point to their offense. They may trade down but if they stay at four Richardson is the likely pick.

5) Buccaneers- Morris Claiborne CB LSU: This pick will either be Richardson or Claiborne, with Richardson gone Claiborne is the choice.

6) Rams- Justin Blackmon WR Okla St: QB Sam Bradford needs a true number one WR; Blackmon is what they need most.

7) Jaguars- Melvin Ingram DE South Carolina: The Jaguars have been trying to find a pass rush for what seems like since the franchise started way back when. Ingram has shown great flash and talent as a pass rusher despite being under 6-2.

8) Dolphins- Ryan Tannehill QB Texas A&M: The Dolphins need someone to be the center of this team. After missing out of Manning and Matt Flynn , Tannehill is the Dolphins third choice to build their franchise around.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Panthers trade the #9 overall pick to the Cardinals for the #13, #82 overall picks and a sixth round pick.

9) Cardinals- Riley Reiff OT Iowa: The Cardinals need a franchise left tackle, while Reiff isn’t Kalil he is the clear cut number two OT in the draft.

10) Bills- Michael Floyd WR Norte Dame: The Bills truly need a franchise left tackle but I think they will pass on Stanford’s Jonathan Martin for Floyd.

11) Chiefs- Dontari Poe NT Memphis: The Chiefs have a good young defense but need a true NT to complete it. Poe is the best pure NT in the draft.

12) Seahawks- David DeCastro G Stanford: The Seahawks continue to rebuild their offensive line with DeCastro giving them a great run blocking offensive line.

13) Panthers- Stephon Gilmore CB South Carolina: A reach for Gilmore but the Panthers need a corner in the worst way.

14) Cowboys- Fletcher Cox DE Miss St: Cox played DT in college but will slide over to DE in the Cowboys 3-4 defense. Cox is a wide big body defensive lineman the Cowboys like.

15) Eagles- Luke Kuechly MLB Boston College: Even though the Eagles just traded for Demeco Ryans adding Luechly to a linebacker group that couldn’t tackle a middle school running back isn’t a bad idea at all.

16) Jets- Quinton Coples DE/OLB UNC: Coples’ slide ends and the Jets take a fly on the big man. At 6’6 280lbs he is a clear cut 4-3 DE but with the Jets 3-4 defense he may be used as a tweener and play both OLB and DE.

17) Bengals- Dre Kirkpatrick CB Bama: The Bengals lost Jonathon Joseph in free agency last year and with Leon Hall getting hurt last year cornerback is the top need for the Bengals in this draft.

18) Chargers- Cordy Glenn G/T Georgia: The Chargers re-signed their starting left tackle and center this offseason but lost their starting left guard to and early retirement. Glenn will likely make his money at guard in the NFL but can play either tackle spot in a pinch.

19) Bears- Jonathan Martin OT Stanford: The Bears have done a great job in free agency this offseason. Adding Martin gives the Bears a book end tackle to go with last year’s first round pick Gabe Carimi.

20) Titans- Michael Brockers DT LSU: The Titans lost Jason Jones in free agency and the defensive line needed upgraded before Jones left.

21) Bengals- Dont’a Hightower MLB Bama: This is a reach for Hightower but the Bengals continue to add to this defense with a force in the middle.

22) Browns- Kendall Wright WR Baylor: The Browns have added two get weapons to the offense in the first round. Richardson gives them the all-around running back they covet and Wright gives them the home run threat at WR they need.

23) Lions- Mark Baron S Bama: While safety isn’t the biggest need for the Lions adding him with former first round pick Louis Delmas, giving the Lions a scaring combo at safety.

24) Steelers- Mike Adams OT Ohio St: The Steelers need to find a true franchise left tackle to pair with last year’s second round pick Marcus Gilbert to keep Big Ben upright.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Broncos trade the #25 overall pick to the Patriots for the #31 and #95 overall picks.

Explanation: With the Texans picking right before the Patriots do at #27 and possibly looking to add an OLB to help replace Mario Williams, the Patriots give up the late third round pick to move up six spots to insure they get Upshaw before the Texans take him at #26.

25) Patriots- Courtney Upshaw DE Bama: The Patriots dealt with their WR concerns in free agency, adding three speedy WRs. Now they turn their need to fixing that defense and first thing is to find someone who can rush the QB.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Texans trade the #26 overall pick to the Browns for the #37 and #68 overall picks, plus the teams will swap fourth round picks (the fourth round pick the Texans got in the Ryans trade).

26) Browns- Nick Perry DE USC: The Browns had a real quit free agency after missing out on the RGIII sweepstakes. So for plan B they draft three guys in the first round, the first two to help the offense and the third to get Perry who will play DE opposite of last year’s second round pick Jabaal Sheard.

27) Patriots- Janoris Jenkins CB North Alabama: The Patriots could do DE here again but with Perry gone, Jenkins is a great plan B. The Patriots always seem to need another CB and Jenkins has the potential to turn into a great player if he can get his act together off the field.

28) Packers- Whitney Mercilus OLB Illinois: With the signing of former Colt center Jeff Saturday the Packers can wait until the later rounds to find the long term replacement at center. Instead in round one the Packers add the pass rush skilled OLB Mercilus.

29) Ravens- Peter Konz C/G Wisconsin: The Ravens lost Ben Grubbs in free agency so Konz will likely start there from day one and move to center when Matt Birks retires.

30) 49ers- Stephen Hill WR Georgia Tech: The 49ers signed Randy Moss and Mario Manningham this offseason to boost their WR group but adding Hill would be a smart move. Hill likely won’t help much this season or next but in three years he could be the best WR in this draft.

31) Broncos- Rueben Randle WR LSU: With Manning now aboard adding another WR weapon for the Broncos should be their game plan for round one.

32) Giants- Doug Martin RB Boise St: Martin who just two months ago was a third round or so prospect ends up going in the first round to replace Brandon Jacobs.

33) Colts- Zach Brown OLB UNC: Brown is a true boom-or-bust prospect but the Colts are rebuilding from square one so taking a risk on Brown is worth it at 33 overall.

34) Rams- Bobby Massie OT Ole Miss: The Rams grab the OT the need here in the second round. Massie is a borderline first round pick.

35) Vikings- Harrison Smith S Norte Dame: The Vikings secondary needs to be completely re-done. Smith is a ball hawk safety that could be the beginning of the remaking of the Vikings secondary.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Panthers trade the #40 overall pick and a fifth round pick in 2012 and 2013 to the Buccaneers for the #36 overall pick.

Explanation: The Panthers trade up four spots to jump ahead of the Jaguars and Rams who both have needs at DT.

36) Panthers- Jerel Worthy DT Mich St: The Panthers got the corner they needed in round one so to grab the run stopping DT is the need in round two.

37) Texans- Andre Branch OLB Clemson: With Mario Williams gone in free agency a “swing OLB” is going to be needed for depth or incase either of the starters get hurt.

38) Jaguars- Kendall Reyes DT UConn: The Jaguars need to add some depth at DT since their starters can’t stay healthy.

39) Rams- Josh Robinson UCF: Despite adding former Titans CB Cortland Finnegan to a new fat contract a new starter is needed opposite of him.

40) Buccaneers- David Wilson RB VT: If the Bucs go corner in first round, a speed RB will be the second round choice, if they go RB in round one CB will be picked in round two.

41) Bills- Brandon Weeden QB Okla St: Weeden is drafted to push or even take over for starter Ryan Fitzpatrick if he fails to live up to his contract.

42) Dolphins- Alshon Jeffery WR South Carolina: When they traded away Brandon Marshall they left a gaping hole at WR. Jeffery has slipped but the Dolphins need to add a WR.

43) Seahawks- Vinny Curry DE Marshall: The Seahawks should add some depth to their defensive line despite the moves they made in free agency.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Chiefs trade the #44 overall pick to the Bears for the #50 overall pick and a fifth round pick.

Explanation: The Bears need a to draft a TE early in the draft, to move ahead of the Chargers who could be looking for the future replacement for Antonio Gates and make sure they get the top TE in the draft.

44) Bears- Coby Fleener TE Stanford: The Bears need a starting TE, a 6’6 Fleener is a big body pass catching TE who is also under rated as a blocker.

45) Cowboys- Dwight Bentley CB LA-Lafayette: While corner is not a huge need, adding a young play maker on the outside or in the slot is not a bad idea.

46) Eagles- Devon Still DT Penn St: The Eagles need a big body DT to go alone with that “wide 9” defensive line scheme.

47) Jets- Mohamed Sanu WR Rutgers: The Jets need to find another weapon for whichever QB is starting week one.

48) Patriots- Lamar Miller RB Miami: With “The Law Firm” going to the Bengals a replacement is needed, while it may come from in house. Adding Miller is a value decision pick here.

49) Chargers- Dwayne Allen TE Clemson: As mentioned before, the Chargers need to find a replacement for Gates sooner rather than later. Allen is the second best TE in the draft and could use a year or two to learn from Gates.

50) Chiefs- Kevin Zeitler G Wisconsin: The Chiefs either need to add a guard in round one or two, by drafting a NT in round one, guard is the pick in round two.

51) Eagles- Kirk Cousins QB Mich St: The Eagles drafted Kevin Kolb way back when to be the eventual replacement to Donavan McNabb. Cousins could be the replacement to Michael Vick.

52) Titans- Lavonte David OLB Nebraska: The Titans need depth at all three linebacker spots and could use a starter on the outside. David is the second best 4-3 OLB in the draft.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Bengals trade the #53 overall pick and a seventh round pick to the Ravens for the #61, and #93 overall picks.

Explanation: Ravens trade up ahead of the Falcons to insure they draft the pass rush OLB they want.

53) Ravens- Chandler Jones OLB Syracuse: With Jarret Johnson leaving in free agency a replacement will be needed.

54) Lions- Zebrie Sanders OT Florida St: A replacement for long time starting left tackle Jeff Backus is needed despite that Backus resigned with the team. Sanders could start at right tackle or “swing tackle” until he is needed to start. He could also play guard in a pinch too.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Falcons trade the #55 overall pick and a sixth round pick to the Broncos for the #57 overall pick and the fourth round pick acquired from the Jet in the Tim Tebow trade.

55) Broncos- Trumaine Johnson CB/S Montana: The Broncos jump up two spots to get ahead of the Steelers who will be looking to add a corner to their defense. Even though they signed former Saints CB Tracy Porter it is only for one year so still drafting at least one corner is needed. Plus Johnson can play safety too.

56) Steelers- Brandon Thompson NT Clemson: The Steelers need a new starting NT and if they can get Thompson at #56, they will be getting a steal.

57) Falcons- Cam Johnson DE Virginia: Despite bringing back DE John Abraham in free agency adding a young DE is needed.

58) Texans- Jared Crick DE Nebraska: Crick is one of the better 3-4 DEs in this draft, while DE is not a huge need, this is a value pick for the Texans.

59) Saints- The Saints will forfeit this pick due to the Bounty Program.

60) Packers- Philip Blake C Baylor: Despite signing Saturday in free agency he doesn’t have much left in the tank and a replacement will be needed at some point. Blake can also play guard if needed.

61) Bengals- Amini Silatolu G Midwestern St: The Bengals need to walk away from this draft with at least one new guard. Silatolu is rising up draft boards.

62) 49ers- Chase Minnifield CB/S Virginia: The 49ers need to add some depth to defense.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Patriots trade the #63 overall pick to the Chiefs for the #83 overall pick and a fourth round pick.

63) Chiefs- BrockOsweiler QB ASU: The Chiefs can’t go into the 2012 season with just Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn as their QBs on the roster. A young prospect must be brought in to push and possibly replace the starter Cassel.

64) Giants- Ronnell Lewis DE Oklahoma: Not a need but a value pick, adding more pass rush to an already dangerous front four for the Giants is just icing ontop of the cake.

65) Colts- Orson Charles TE Georgia

66) Rams- LaMichael James RB Orgeon

67) Vikings- Nick Toon WR Wisconsin

68) Texans- Andrew Datkio OT Florida St

TRADE ALERT!!! The Patriots trade the #75 overall pick to the Cowboys for the #83 overall pick and a fifth round pick.

My Fifth NFL Mock Draft

Welcome to my fifth 2012 NFL mock draft. Since my last mock draft free agency has started and is a week old and today Peyton Manning has decided to sign with the Broncos. I still do predict trades in my mock drafts, because that’s what makes this so much fun!

RGIII. NEXT!

TRADE ALERT!!! The Vikings trade the #3 overall pick to the Dolphins for the #8, #42 overall picks and their 2013 first round pick.

Explanation: With both Manning and Matt Flynn choosing not to go to the Dolphins they are in a fight with the Browns (who pick fourth) to get Ryan Tannehill.

3)    Dolphins- Ryan Tannehill QB Texas A&M: The Dolphins need a franchise QB and with striking out on Flynn and Manning, a trade for Tannehill is needed.

4)    Browns- Trent Richardson RB Bama: The Browns offseason hasn’t been that great, and with no QB option available they give current QB Colt McCoy a focal point offensive threat in the all-around back, Richardson.

5)    Buccaneers- Morris Claiborne CB LSU: The Bucs made the best splash in free agency signing WR Vincent Jackson, guard Carl Nicks, and CB Eric Wright. But still the addition of Wright doesn’t mean the Bucs can pass on Claiborne. In the NFC and especially in the NFC South you need three or more good corners.

6)    Rams- Justin Blackmon WR Okla St: The Rams need a number one WR threat for franchise QB Sam Bradford. Blackmon is the best WR in the draft.

7)    Jaguars- Melvin Ingram DE South Carolina: The Jaguars signed former Cowboy WR Laurent Robinson so the Jaguars can wait till round two to add a young WR so DE gets the nod.

8)    Vikings- Matt Kalil OT USC: The Vikings get their man at eight instead of three and pick up another second round pick and a first round next year… SCORE!!

9)    Panthers- Quinton Coples DE UNC: The Panthers need defensive line help, Colpes will likely play left end but could slide inside to DT on third downs.

10) Bills- Riley Reiff OT Iowa: The Bills made a big splash by signing Mario Williams to a $100 Million dollar deal. The Bills will then turn their efforts into getting a franchise left tackle.

11) Chiefs- Dontari Poe NT Memphis: The Chiefs have a great young defense but are missing a noise tackle. Poe made himself a lot of money at the combine.

12) Seahawks- Luke Kuechly MLB BC: The Seahawks signed Matt Flynn and re-signed Red Bryant and signed former Titians DE Jason Jones so the Seahawks have taken care of their two biggest needs in free agency so they turn to finding their defensive leader in the draft.

13) Cardinals- Jonathon Martin OT Stanford: The Cardinals didn’t get Manning but still need a new left tackle.

14) Cowboys- Mark Baron S Bama: The Cowboys signed former Chiefs CB Brandon Carr and former Bengals guard Nate Irving so they spend their first round pick on the best safety in the draft.

15) Eagles- Michael Brockers DT LSU: Eagles head coach Andy Reid loves drafting linemen. Some depth at DT is needed so Andy does what Andy wants.

16) Jets- Dont’a Hightower ILB Bama: The Jets added former Redskins safety LaRon Landry in free agency and with ILB Bart Scott likely to be cut a young combo of Hightower and pro bowler David Harris will be another strong point of this great Jets defense.

17) Bengals- David DeCastro G Stanford: The Bengals have lost guard Nate Irving in free agency and need a new starting left guard, DeCastro is the best guard prospect in years.

18) Chargers- Courtney Upshaw OLB Bama: The Chargers lost Vincent Jackson to the Bucs but signed former Saints WR Robert Meachem and former Broncos WR Eddie Royal to replace Jackson and add depth. They resigned their starting left tackle and center and added former Ravens OLB Jarret Johnson but still need someone on the other side. The Chargers are reportedly high on Upshaw.

19) Bears- Mike Adams OT Ohio St: The Bears won big in the trade for Brandon Marshall. With the big play WR on the roster the Bears turn their attention to fixing the offensive line and that all important left tackle spot.

20) Titians- Nick Perry DE USC: The Titians just signed former Raider DE Kamerion Wimbley to a five year deal but still other starting DE Derrick Morgan hasn’t be able to stay healthy so adding another DE is a must.

21) Bengals- Dre Kirkpatrick CB Bama: The Bengals added the guard they needed at 17 and now draft a starting corner at 21.

22) Browns- Michael Floyd WR Norte Dame: The Browns added a RB at four and now give McCoy at big tall red zone target to throw to.

23) Lions- Janoris Jenkins CB North Bama: The Lions resigned OT Jeff Backus and signed former Colts CB Jacob Lacey but Lacey is likely to replace Eric Wright who went to Tampa Bay and depth was needed before Wright left.

24) Steelers- Cordy Glenn G/T Georgia: The Steelers like last year’s right tackle Marcus Gilbert a lot and plan to move him to left tackle. Glenn can play guard (a position the Steelers need to address) or right tackle.

25) Broncos- Fletcher Cox DT Miss St: The Broncos signed Manning to a 5year, $96 Million dollar deal, that means one or both of the starting DTs Brodrick Bunkley or Marcus Thomas won’t return to the Broncos in 2012.

26) Texans- Kendall Wright WR Baylor: The Texans need a speed WR to play opposite of Andre Johnson.

27) Patriots- Stephon Gilmore CB South Carolina: The Patriots signed former Rams WR Brandon Lloyd and former Colts WR Anthony Gonzales. So the WR position has been fixed. The Patriots then instead add another big CB to their roster.

28) Packers- Whitney Mercilus OLB Illinois: The Packers could draft a center here to replace Scott Wells leaving in free agency but pass rush is a bigger need.

29) Ravens- Peter Konz C/G Wisconsin: The Ravens lost guard Ben Grubbs to the Saints in free agency and with Matt Birk back but still at age 35 he doesn’t have much left. Konz can start at guard to replace Grubbs and then take over at center in a year or two.

30) 49ers- Stephen Hill WR Georgia Tech: The 49ers signed Randy Moss to a one year deal and former Giants WR Mario Manningham to a two year deal. Still drafting Hill is a good year because it will probably take two years to fully develop him into the big play receiver he can be.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Patriots trade the #31 and the #63 overall picks to the Bills for the #41 overall pick and their 2013 first round pick.

31) Bills- Brandon Weeden QB Okla St: The Bills got their DE in free agency and their left tackle at ten and at 31 they draft a (29 years old) rookie to push or even take over for starter Ryan Fitzpatrick if he fails to live up to his contract.

32) Giants- Bobby Massie OT Ole Miss: The Giants need to add a tackle in this draft; Massie is rising up draft boards and could get pushed into the first round as the fifth OT tackle.

33) Colts- Rueben Randle WR LSU: The Colts lost WR Pierre Garcon in free agency so they need to give Andrew Luck a speed threat at WR.

34) Rams- Zebrie Sanders OT Florida St: The Rams need to find a new OT in this draft, Sanders has the skill set to play both left and right tackle.

35) Vikings- Harrison Smith S Norte Dame: The Vikings secondary needs a complete makeover. Smith is a border line first round pick but he has some ball hawking skills.

36) Buccaneers- David Wilson RB Virginia Tech: The Bucs could go corner again here but a speed RB to go with LeGarrette Blount and his power running style.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Browns trade the #37 overall pick to the Seahawks for the #43 overall and their fourth round pick.

37) Seahawks- Kendall Reyes DT UConn: The Seahawks fixed their DE position in free agency but still need to add a DT.

38) Jaguars- Jerel Worthy DT Mich St: The Jaguars need a WR but with WR worth the pick here they draft Worthy. The Jags starters are good but tend to get hurt so depth is needed.

39) Rams- Zach Brown OLB UNC: The Rams need to add a young OLB in this draft. With two second round picks and three in the top 39 overall they should draft Brown.

40) Panthers- Devon Still DT Penn St: The Panthers continue to boost their defensive line and draft Still.

41) Patriots- Andre Branch DE Clemson: The Patriots need to add pass rush to a defense that got all its pass rush from veteran free agents.

42) Vikings- Trumaine Johnson CB/S Montana: The Vikings add a big corner for their press cover two style defense.

43) Browns- Kirk Cousins QB Mich St: The Browns need to bring in some kind of competition for Colt McCoy.

44) Chiefs- Kevin Zeitler G Wisconsin: The Chiefs need to add a young guard to their roster. Zeitler could start from day one.

45) Cowboys- Vinny Curry OLB Marshall: The Cowboys need to add some depth at OLB.

46) Eagles- Lavonte David OLB Nebraska: The Eagles linebackers need to be upgraded. David is rising up draft boards.

47) Jets- Chandler Jones OLB Syracuse: The Jets could add some pass rush depth at OLB behind recently re-signed OLB Bryan Thomas.

48) Patriots- Doug Martin RB Boise St: The Patriots could lose “The Law Firm” in free agency so a replacement is going to be needed.

49) Chargers-Dwight Bently CB LA-Lafayette: The Chargers need to add some talent at CB in this draft.

50) Bears- Coby Fleener TE Stanford: The Bears need to add a TE to their roster since last year’s starter Kellen Davis had only 18 catches last year.

51) Eagles- Lamar Miller RB Miami: The Eagles don’t need a RB but Miller is the best talent on the Board and could be needed if McCoy gets seriously hurt in 2012.

52) Titans- Josh Robinson CB UCF: The Titans lost starting CB Cortland Finnegan to the Rams in free agency so some depth is needed.

53) Bengals- Chase Minnifield CB/S Virginia: The Bengals re-signed Reggie Nelson but still adding Minnifield for depth at CB and safety is good, especially since you can never have too many good corners.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Lions trade the #54 overall pick to the Packers for the #60 overall pick and a third and sixth round picks.

54) Packers- Philip Blake C Baylor: The Packers lost starting center Scott Wells in free agency so adding his replacement is needed and with teams like the Falcons (55) and Saints (59) looking to add a center, the high price trade with division rival Lions.

55) Falcons- Dwayne Allen TE Clemson: Falcons star TE Tony Gonzales almost retired this offseason so it is clearly time to find his replacement. Allen was once considered a first round pick so a steal for the Falcons at 55.

56) Steelers- Brandon Thompson NT Clemson: A new noise tackle is needed for that older Steelers defense.

57) Broncos- LaMichael James RB Oregon: Peyton Manning likes to throw to his running back, James is a Darren Sproles like RB that Manning would love to have.

58) Texans- Ronnell Lewis OLB Oklahoma: With Mario Williams the Texans had a great three man rotation at OLB, with Williams leaving in free agency to the Bills a third OLB behind starters Connor Barwin and Brooks Reed.

59) Saints- Alson Jeffery WR South Carolina: The Saints lost WR Robert Meachem to the Chargers in free agency so WR depth has become at need.

60) Lions- Andrew Datkio OT Florida St: The Lions need to add a tackle in either the first or second round in the draft.

61) Ravens- Mohamed Sanu WR Rutgers: The Lee Evans trade was a total bust so the Ravens need to add a third WR to go with current starting WRs Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith.

62) 49ers- Amini Silatolu Midwestern St: The 49ers need to fix their offensive line which gave up way too many sacks last year.

63) Bills- Jayron Hosley CB Virginia Tech: The Bills could add some depth at CB.

64) Giants- Alfonzo Dennard CB Nebraska: The Giants lost Aaron Ross to the Jaguars in free agency so adding a young CB would be a good idea.
