My Second NFL Mock Draft

Welcome to my second 2012 NFL mock draft. Note that the picks with the * marks have a chance of being flipped because of the coin toss at the NFL Scouting Combine. I do predict trades in my mock drafts but not any I bet you thought about before.
1)    Colts- Andrew Luck QB Stan: Clear cut number one pick. Peyton Manning in due 28 million in March and the Colts are clearly moving on.

2)    Ram- Matt Kalil OT USC: Sam Bradford got the living snot beat out of him last season. Yes the Rams need to give Bradford some weapons but that does little go if the play goes- Hike! Sack! Bradford is hurt!... The Rams need to protect their franchise QB.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Vikings trade the #3rd overall pick to the Redskins for the #6th overall pick and 2nd round and 4th round picks.

3)    Redskins- Robert Griffin III QB Baylor: The Redskins need a franchise QB and RGIII is coming off an amazing year and is the Heisman Trophy winner. Head Coach Mike Shanahan is on the hot seat and needs to win now and that isn’t going to happen with Rex “I Turn the Ball Over” Grossman and John Beck playing QB again this year.

4)    Browns- Justin Blackmon WR Okla St: The Browns just miss out on RGIII but maybe that’s for the better. I still believe Colt McCoy can be a starter in the NFL and lets face it the Browns have little talent around him. Yes last year’s draft pick Greg Little is nice but he has inconsonant hands and is not a true number one WR. Blackmon gives McCoy someone he can count on to make plays for him consistently.

5)    Bucs- Morris Claiborne CB LSU: Starting CB Aqib Talib is always in legal trouble and Ronde Barber may not be back next year. A new number one corner is needed.

6)    Vikings- Riley Reiff OT Iowa: The Vikings would have liked to get Kalil with the third pick but with him taken by the Rams at two the smart move was to move down and pick up and extra second and fourth round picks and get the second best OT in the draft with Reiff.

7)    Jaguars- Quinton Coples DE UNC: The Jaguars need pass rushing; if you can’t put any rush on the other teams QB you are going to have a long day on defense. In a division with future superstar Andrew Luck along with pro bowler Matt Schaub and up and coming Jake Locker. Pass rush is a need in this division.

8)    *Panthers- Luke Kuechly ILB BC: The Panthers linebacking group was as terrible as you can get, except for the Eagles group. Luechly can come in and be the anchor in the middle on the defense for the next 8-12 years.

9)    *Dolphins- Melvin Ingram DE/OLB South Car: The Dolphins are reportedly switching to a 4-3 defense, either way the Dolphins need more pass rush besides Cameron Wake. Ingram who had a great week at the senior bowl can play either 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Bills trade the #10th overall pick and a 6th round pick to the Bengals for the #17th overall and a 2nd round pick.

10) Bengals- Trent Richardson RB Bama: The Bengals trade up without having to give up both of their first round picks (like you saw in my last mock draft). The Bengals need a young explosive back and Richardson is the clear number one back in the draft.

11) *Chiefs- Jonathan Martin OT Stan: The Chiefs had a poor season because of injuries. They lost three starters in a four week span early in the season to an ACL tear to all three players. However the Chiefs do need a new tackle, Martin was the blindside protector to Andrew Luck at Stanford but he is more likely to play right tackle in the NFL.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Seahawks trade the #12th overall pick to the Packers for the #28th overall and a 2nd round pick in the 2012 and 2013 drafts.

12) Packers- Courtney Upshaw OLB Bama: Upshaw is a pass rush beast, he played 3-4 OLB and 4-3 DE under Nick Saban at Alabama. Other than Clay Mathews, who is double teamed consistently, the Packers have no pass rush. Upshaw changes that from day one.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Cardinals trade the #13th overall pick and a 6th round pick to the Titans for the #20th overall and a 2nd round pick.

13) Titans- Dre Kirkpatrick CB Bama: The Titans may lose CB Cortland Finnegan in free agency and even if not depth is really needed. Kirkpatrick failed his drug test recently and his draft stock has dropped a bit. The Titans jump up to number #13 just before the Cowboys, who are also looking for a CB, and grab the falling Kirkpatrick.

14) Cowboys- David DeCastro G Stan: The Cowboys miss out on Kirkpatrick but their offensive line needs to be rebuilt some more despite taking OT Smith in last year’s draft. DeCastro played guard at Stanford but he has the potential and ability to possibly play right tackle in the NFL, either way he is a hell of a good offensive line and helps boost the line.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Eagles trade the #15th overall pick to the Bears for the #19th overall and a 3rd round pick.

15) Bears- Devon Stills DT Penn St: The Bears defensive ends played great last year, the interior defensive line didn’t. With the release of Tommy Harris in the offseason last year the Bears DTs played terrible and Stills is arguably the best DT in the draft.

16) Jets- Alshon Jeffery WR South Car: Whoever is the QB in New Jersey next year, Mark Sanchez or Peyton Manning, they will need a big red zone target to throw to. WR Plaxico Burress is not likely to be back so a replacement is needed.

17) Bills- Michael Brockers DT LSU: The Bills can’t make up their minds on whether to play a 4-3 defense or a 3-4 defense. I think they are better player 4-3 but either way Brockers can play along the defensive line. He can stop the run with the best of them despite only being a redshirt sophomore, his pass rush ability will come along with time.

18) Chargers- Michael Floyd WR Norte Dame: The Chargers could lose star WR Vincent Jackson in free agency and his replacement will be needed.

19) Eagles- Vontaze Burfict ILB ASU: The Eagles linebacker core sucks; they need to learn how to tackle again. Burfict was a three year starter at ASU and can bring some stability to the Eagles linebacker group.

20) Cardinals- Mike Adams OT OSU: The Cardinals need an OT more than any other team. Rumors are swirling that Peyton Manning wants to go to Arizona. That isn’t going to happen if he is going to get sacked 10 times a game. Adams had a great senior bowl and raised his stock big time during the senior bowl week. A reach at pick #13 but a good pick at #20.

21) Bengals- Janoris Jenkins CB North Alabama: Jenkins played at Florida University before he got thrown off the team right before his senior year so he transferred down to division two North Alabama instead of entering the NFL Supplement draft last year. The Bengals have a history of giving guys a second and even a third chance and Jenkins has the talent to be a top 10 pick if it wasn’t for his off the field trouble.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Browns trade the #22nd overall pick and a 4th round pick to the Giants for the #32nd overall and a 2nd round pick.

22) Giants- Dont’a Hightower ILB Bama: The Giants need to get a constant ILB play. Hightower is shooting up draft boards after his performance in the national championship game. The Giants trade up ahead of the Ravens and other teams in the late 20’s looking for an ILB.

23) Lions- Cordy Glenn G/T Georgia: The Lions had a great season but that offensive line still needs an upgrade. Glenn can play either guard or right tackle; a good pick up here for the Lions.

24) Steelers- Mark Barron S Bama: The Steelers starting safeties Ryan Clark and Troy Polamalu both are getting up there in age, Barron can provide depth behind both until one retires.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Broncos trade the #25th overall pick and a 5th round pick to the Seahawks for both their 2nd round picks (theirs and the Packers).

25) Seahawks- Whitney Mercilus DE Illinois: The Seahawks pass rushers were terrible last year, an upgrade is needed and Mercilus is a good 4-3 defensive end prospect.

26) Texans- Kendall Wright WR Baylor: The Texans need more talent on the outside. WR Andre Johnson would love not to face double and triple teams every play of every game.

TRADE ALERT!!! The Patriots trade the #27th overall pick to the Dolphins for a 2nd round pick, a 3rd round pick and a 2013 2nd round pick.

27) Dolphins- Ryan Tannehill QB Texas A&M: The Dolphins don’t risk Tannehill not falling to them in the second round and give up a second round pick next year and a third round pick along with their second round pick this year to join ahead the Seahawks for the former WR Tannehill.

28) Seahawks- Nick Foles QB Arizona: The Seahawks just miss out on Tannehill but they instead grab what I think will be a better player in Foles. The Seahawks need to find an answer at QB and Travis Jackson is not the answer.

29) Ravens- Peter Konz C/G Wisconsin: Starting center Matt Birk is considering retirement and a replacement will be needed but even if he stays around in Baltimore one more year starting guard Ben Grubbs is a free agent and could walk so the depth is needed.

TRADE ALERT!!! The 49ers trade the #30th overall pick to the Vikings for a 2nd and 4th round picks.

30) Vikings- Jerel Worthy DT Miss St: The Vikings DT’s need an upgrade since the Williams brother’s tenure is over. Worthy is a big strong DT who can play both the pass and the run.

31) Patriots- Alfonzo Dennard CB Nebraska: If you are starting a WR on defense at any point during your season yet alone the conference championship game against the Ravens WR Anquan Boldin you need help at corner BAD!! Dennard stock has dropped during the senior bowl but the Patriots need a corner BAD!!

32) Browns- Dwayne Allen TE Clemson: The Browns continue to add weapons for Colt McCoy. By adding Blackmon at number four and now a great young TE at #32, McCoy has no excuses now not to be good.
